OTTAWA – “American Idol” finalist Phil Stacey will perform a free gospel concert at
the Ottawa Municipal Auditorium at 6 p.m. Oct. 29. Stacey’s voice captivated 30 million viewers in the sixth season of the popular talent show and he was among the top five finalists. Stacey is based in Nashville and tours the country but recently debuted his first album “Into The Light.” The concert is hosted by the Ottawa Lighthouse Community Church, 120 W. Third St. The Rev. Dale Carter, the pastor of the church, served as an assistant minister in Wichita to Stacey’s father and knew Stacey while he was a child. Carter asked Stacey if he’d be interested in doing the concert, and he rearranged his schedule to come to Ottawa. The concert is free but donations will be asked at intermission, Carter said. There are only 804 tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. For tickets, call Carter at (913) 226-3286.
