GARNETT — The Garnett Public Library will hold a book discussion on the novel “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith on Oct. 26. Smith’s novel is a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story of a child of first-generation Americans and how she faces poverty, overcrowded schools; and the need to be loved. The book was also the basis of a Hollywood film and a Broadway musical. The discussion will be led by Jane Feuerborn. The discussion is free and open to the public.
