LAWRENCE — Agriculture deputy secretary Kathleen Merrigan will visit Lawrence and Manhattan today to highlight the American Jobs Act and what it will mean to Kansas. She’ll be at the Community Mercantile store in Lawrence from 12:15 to 12:45 this afternoon to tout direct links between local farmers and ranchers to shoppers looking for healthy food. Merrigan will make two stops at Kansas state University in Manhattan tonight to discuss job creation and increasing private investment in rural America and the USDA’s “Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food” initiative.
