LAWRENCE — A Hiawatha man was killed at the junction of K-10 and the Kansas Turnpike west of Lawrence Saturday evening. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Mike Miner, 52, Hiawatha; was going north on K-10 when his car was hit in the driver’s side by a SUV driven by Robert Petro, 87, Topeka. The highway patrol said Petro was driving south on K-10 and was trying to turn left into the turnpike interchange when the crash occurred. Petro was injured as was his passenger, Barbara Petro, 87, Topeka. They were both taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. A passenger in Miner’s car, Kathy Miner, 57, Hiawatha, was taken to KU Medical Center.
