OTTAWA — Ottawa University will name its school of business as the Angell Snyder School of Business in honor of economist and former dean Dr. Wayne Angell, who served on the Federal Reserve board of governors, and long-time OU professor Dr. Sherwin Snyder. There will be a gala tonight for Angell and Snyder and there will be a series of free workshops presented by the leaders of the business school on Thursday. OU president Kevin Eichner said Angell and Snyder represent the ideal combination of business expertise, service to mankind and high moral standards that the OU business school tries to instill in students. Angell taught at Ottawa University from 1959 to 1985. He was elected as a state representative in 1960. He was on the Federal Reserve board from 1986 to 1994. He left to become a chief economist for Bear Sterns & Co., Inc., until 2002. He is a consultant in the Washington area. Snyder joined Ottawa University’s teaching staff in 1960, moving to the adult campus in Phoenix in 1989. He completed his 38-year career with OU director of graduate studies in human resources and dean of graduate studies, retiring in 1998. The celebration is part of OU’s homecoming activities this week.
