LeLOUP — A midnight fire caused heavy damage to a house just south of LeLoup early this morning. The fire occurred at the home of Shane Coons at 2756 Riley Road. The fire originated on or in a backyard deck and spread into the house and into kitchen, said Wellsville Fire Chief Robert Thomas. Firefighters stopped the fire shortly after arriving but were at the scene about an hour and a half, he said. The family escaped without injury, he said. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office said the fire did an estimated $180,000 in damage.
