BURLINGTON — It was a Cinderella tale in the 3-A substate volleyball tournament at Burlington Saturday. Unfortunately, only one Cinderealla got the trip to the state tournament at Salina and the other went home with the pumpkin. Seventh-seeded Wellsville squeaked by fifth-seeded Central Heights to win the substate, 25-18, 21-25, 25-13. The Lady Eagles came from behind to beat second-seeded West Franklin 19-25, 26-24, 26-24, and third-seeded Eureka 25-17, 25-23. The Lady Vikings beat fourth-seeded Osage City, 25-22, 25-18; and upset top-seeded Burlington 25-20, 25-19. Wellsville is seeded eighth and begins state tournament pool pay Friday morning against number-one-seed Hoisington.
