GARNETT — A 10-year-old Garnett girl was taken by helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City Sunday afternoon after she was hit by a truck pulling a livestock trailer. The Garnett Police Department said she was chasing a ball and ran into Maple Street, which is also U.S. 59, in front of the truck in the 800 block south. The truck was driven by Keith Roecker of Dewey, Okla. She was taken to Anderson County Hospital in Garnett then flown to Kansas City. Police didn’t identify the girl because of her age.
