LYNDON — Funeral services for a 13-year-old Lyndon Middle School football player will be Tuesday afternoon at 1 at Mount Pleasant Community Church, Lyndon. Alec Mounkes died Thursday as a result of an ankle injury he received while playing in a football game Oct. 6. The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that an ankle injury resulted in blood clots in his legs which caused cardiac arrest, which put him in a heart and lung machine. Doctors amputated one of his legs and then the other. He died shortly after the second amputation. Lyndon State Bank and Citizens State Bank in Lyndon are collecting money for his family.
