TOPEKA — The Citizen Potawatomi Nation will commemorate the 150th anniversaries of Kansas statehood and the signing of the treaty of 1861 between the Potawatomi Indians in Kansas and the U.S. government. The event will be 10 a.m. Saturday on the west side of the Potawatomi Mission on the grounds of the Kansas State Historical Society on the west edge of Topeka. The event will include history presentations of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, the treaty and the Pottawatomi Mission. Potawatomi Mission exhibits and artifacts will be open for viewing following the ceremony.
