TOPEKA — Westar eEnergy has sent nearly 175 members of electrial line and tree crews to Springfield, Mass., to help Western Massachusetts Electric restore electricity to its customers. The northeast was hit by a freak snow storm this weekend with some areas receiving more than two feet of snow. The storm left about 1.8 million customers without power and Westar Energy crews were dispatched for a two-week deployment to help in the restoration work.
