TOPEKA — The first-ever national test of the Emergency Alert System will be Wednesday afternoon at 1. Radio and television stations, wireline video services, cable and satellite providers in Kansas will join other broadcasters across the entire nation in the nation-wide test. The Kansas Adjutant General’s office said the test may take up to a minute, at which time the public will hear a message indicating “This is a test.” The test will be conducted through broadcast media only — it will not include NOAA weather radios, mobile devices or outdoor warning sirens. Visit the Web site www.ksready.gov for more information on the national test and how to prepare for emergencies.
