TOPEKA — Kansas Commissioner of Insurance Sandy Praeger said that you need to be sure that the next rumble doesn’t mean a fumble. Fires, tornadoes and clumsy neighbors are covered by most regular homeowners, renters or condominium insurance policies, Prager said. But earthquake insurance isn’t. The shaking in Kansas caused by last weekend’s quake and aftershocks in Oklahoma is a good reminder for homeowners and renters to check with their insurance agents, she said. In most cases, earthquake damage will have to be added as an endorsement to existing policies or homeowners or renters will have to buy a separate earthquake policy. In either case, you’re paying more.
