RANTOUL — A Miami County man was roaming the range this morning after he was chased by law officers shortly before midnight. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office said a deputy tried to stop a vehicle at Jackson and Virginia roads east of Rantoul late Wednesday night. The sheriff’s office said the driver refused to stop, resulting in the chase. After a long pursuit, the driver ran into a wooded area and escaped. The sheriff’s office identified the driver as Derik Perez, 24, Paola.
