GARNETT — A judge decided there wasn’t enough evidence to pursue a murder case against a Chanute woman charged in a drunk driving wreck that killed a 13-year-old girl more than a year ago in Anderson County. The Anderson County Review reports Magistrate Judge Kevin Kimball ruled there wasn’t enough evidence to warrant charges of second-degree murder against 46-year-old Connie McCormick. She still faces other charges, including involuntary manslaughter, vehicular homicide and DUI in connection with a one-vehicle wreck that occurred May 27, 2010, near Colony. The Kansas Highway Patrol said McCormick was driving on U.S. 169 when her SUV went into a ditch and rolled over. Mary Jane Robertson was killed when she was thrown out the rear hatch. McCormick was treated at Allen County Hospital in Iola for injuries she received.
