TOPEKA — The Kansas National Guard will take part in several veterans celebrations across the state Friday. Capt. Shawn Miller, 161st Field Artillery, will be the guest speaker at a Veterans Day ceremony at the Paola American Legion post at Wallace Park.
The event begins at 11. Several members of the Kansas Army and Air National Guard will visit Osage City nursing homes to hand out certificates of appreciation to veterans who are residents. They will also do the same at Lawrence nursing homes. Also in Lawrence, Brigadier Gen. Victor Braden, the assistant 35th Infantry Division commander, will be the guest speaker at a ceremony at the University of Kansas.
