GARNETT — Despite recent heavy rains throughout Anderson County, the Anderson County Review reported that rainfall for this year remains well below normal. Although the rains brought nearly four inches to some parts of Garnett, this year’s rainfall totals are still more than four inches below average. Only two months – February and May – saw rainfall above normal marks. Most other months saw moistures levels significantly below average. Average precipitation levels for this month and December typically brings 4.25 inches. Even if the county gets double that amount, it won’t be enough to hit the annual average. Farm experts said the timing of rain the rest of the year could make or break the winter wheat crop..
