EMPORIA — The William Allen White House will be closed for the winter. The Kansas Historical Society said the last day of tours will be Saturday. The site will reopen the first week of April. The site will be available for special events during the winter. The historical society plans to offer new programs and tours at the site when it reopens next year. The William Allen White House, 927 Exchange St., is the former home of the Pullitzer-Prize-winning publisher of the Emporia Gazette.
