GARDNER — The Johnson County district attorney is looking at an incident in which one Gardner City Council member tackled another one during a confrontation following a contentious council meeting Monday night. The news Web sites Gardner News and Gardner Edge report that during the meeting, council member Dennis Pugh shouted at council member Larry Fotovich with an expletive-laced threat to beat him up and then stormed out of the meeting. The two Web sites report that after the meeting, Pugh confronted Fotovich in Fotovich’s front yard. The Edge and News report that during the argument, Pugh said he tackled Fotovich when Fotovich tried to pull something out of his pocket. The item was a video camera, which Pugh grabbed when Fotovich tried to film him. Pugh said he regretted the confrontation. Fotovich had no immediate comment when questioned by the Web sites. Fotovich has been frequently at odds with Gardner Mayor Dave Drovetta and some other members of the council. Drovetta recently angrily cancelled a search for a city manager when he said Fotovich publically released the names of the finalists.
