OTTAWA — The city commission has instructed city attorney Bob Bezek to change the city’s ordinance on collecting at busy intersections. At Monday’s meeting, commissioners expressed concern about the safety of members from an out-of-town church raising money this last weekend by going out among stopped vehicles at 15th and Main and 23rd and Main. The city said the church didn’t notify the city or get a permit. Commissioners wanted to differentiate the church’s efforts from those of local firefighters, who have conducted boot-block efforts at those intersections for charity drives.
