FORT HAYS — Fort Hays State Historic Site will host a Victorian “Christmas Past” onh the evenings of Dec. 2 and 3. The walkways will be lined with luminaries and the officers’ homes will be decorated in the Victorian style. Visitors can also sample homemade cookies and children will receive a bag of goodies from Father Christmas. Fort Hays volunteers, dressed in period clothing, will provide music. The Fort Hays String Academy will perform in the guardhouse Dec. 2 . Fort Hays State University musicians will sing carols Dec. 3. Kansas Pacific Model Railroaders will display trains in the blockhouse both nights. Visitors can board a horse-drawn wagon for a leisurely trip around the grounds both nights. There will also be hot, spiced cider from over a campfire and soldiers will be making hot fried apples over another campfire. Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for students. Kansas Historical Foundation members and children five and under are admitted free.
