OTTAWA — Ottawa city commissioners, Franklin County commissioners and Ottawa school board members will meet with area legislators next week to discuss the upcoming session. Ottawa city manager Richard Nienstedt said the city isn’t expecting much because of the economic situation. Indeed, Nienstedt said he worries that in their attempts to balance the state budget, legislators will get cute by forcing cities and counties to raise local property and sales taxes to cover the gap or continuing to shift money from transportation funds finances by the fuel tax.
