OSAWATOMIE–There’s another twist in the saga of the closed Brown’s Hardware in Osawatomie. Owner Mike Page has obtained another continuance in Muncipal Court, saying he needs time to find a buyer for the hardware–he said previously he might demolish the building. For some time, the building has been closed as the result of the need for extensive repairs, including a new roof. The city has cited Page for several alleged violations of city codes, and he was to go on trial in September, but the case was delayed. Page says he has wanted to expand the store for some time but wants approval to store lumber and other materials. If he can’t get the ok, he says he sees no need for doing needed repairs. Page will appear in court January 18 if the case is not resolved before then.
