OSAGE CITY — Osage City has put its water conservation plan into effect. City officials say the Kansas Water Office has issued a drought watch for Melvern Lake, which will restrict how much water is taken from the lake. The city asks residents to cut back outdoor water use as much as possible, and be more careful of indoor water use. That includes shorter showers, larger laundry and dishwasher loads and repairing leaks. If residents suspect there’s a water leak in the city lines, they should call the city immediately. Several area communities draw water from Melvern Lake and the state’s warning applied to them.
