GARDNER — A Gardner city councilman who was charged in connection with a fight involving another councilman has resigned. The news Web sites Gardner Edge and Gardner News say Dennis Pugh sent a letter of resignation to Mayor Dave Drovetta.
today. Pugh was charged Friday in Johnson County District Court with battery and criminal deprivation of property after a confrontation with council member Larry Fotovich. Fotovich said Pugh tackled him and took a videocamera he was using to record the confrontation with Pugh. The confrontation occurred after a city council meeting in which the two clashed over whether videotaping council meetings would add to civility and decorum.
