OSAWATOMIE — The announcement that President Obama would come to Osawatomie to make a major economic speech today set off a frenzy of preparations by Osawatomie city employees over the last couple of weeks. “We’ve been really, really busy,” said Mayor Phil Dudley. He said it was a proud day for Osawatomie, especially since Obama was following in the footsteps of Pres. Teddy Roosevelt who also made a major speech of national significance in Osawatomie more than a 100 years ago. The sudden snow prompted a last-minute effort by street crews to clean streets before people headed for the high school, he said.
