GARNETT- The name for the new elementary school in Anderson Ccounty is about a month away from being finalized, and currently sitting at top billing is “Garnett Elementary.” School board members showed a preference to this name last week, but contenders stand, such as “Anderson County Elementary,” “North Lake Elementary,” and “Prairie Spirit Elementary.” The Anderson County Review reports that the name “Garnett Elementary” has garnered support because it is named after the community it serves, the same way the elementary schools in Westphalia, Greeley, and Mont Ida are named. Despite the name preference, the school board said it would wait until the new year to make the final decision so that people can have more time to comment on the choices.
