LAWRENCE — Douglas County prosecutors have asked to dismiss a kidnapping charge against a 23-year-old Richmond man accused of participating in two Lawrence robberies. The Lawrence Journal-World reported the motion came during the preliminary hearing for Mikael Englund. Englund and other Franklin County men are accused of robbing a Lawrence man twice at his home at the first of this year. The suspects are accused of stealing marijuana from the man who says he kept it for medicinal reasons because of a health condition. Dustin Smith, 24, Richmond, and a juvenile were charged for the second robbery. The juvenile has been sentenced in that case. Trenton Rowsey, 19, Ottawa, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to aggravated burglary for his role in the first robbery. He received a 32-month prison sentence. The judge will rule later on whether to proceed with the trial for Englund and Smith.
