LIBERTY, Mo. — A memorial service was held Wednesday for a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper who was swept away by the flooding Missouri river in August. The body of Trooper Frederick Guthrie, Jr., was never found although the body of his patrol dog was found about 100 yards from Guthrie’s patrol truck and boat in Holt County in northwestern Missouri. Guthrie, 46, was a 17-year veteran of the former Missouri State Water Patrol, which was merged into the highway patrol, and the Missouri Highway Patrol.
