OTTAWA — Ottawa Main Street has a new program director. Long-time downtown merchant Becci Shisler started this morning. She said her first priority is talking to all of the downtown merchants to see what their goals for her will be and to take the training required of Main Street directors. She said she’ll look at some of the more popular programs started by the previous director, Brian Dennis, and see what she can do to continue them. Shisler was most recently been the owner of Exclusive Third Street Spa, which has been taken over by her daughter. “We were very fortunate to have had a large pool of qualified applicants, Ted Ammerman, board president, said. “But when we compared what the Ottawa Main Street Association needed against what Becci has to offer, the fit was obvious. The fact that she was already active with the Main Street Association as a board and committee member and a significant contributor to our projects is even better.” Ottawa Main Street, founded in 2001, works in conjunction with the Kansas Department of Commerce and the National Trust for Historic Preservation to promote the development of retail and service enterprises within the downtown Ottawa business district.
