OTTAWA – Ottawans could soon pay more on their sewer bills. City commissioners are looking at a proposal that would raise sewer bills for the average household by one dollar each month over four years. City finance director Scott Bird said the increases would be used to help pay for a $4.5 million replacement and expansion of much of the sewer network on the east side of the city. A main “East Interceptor” would be rebuilt from the waste water treatment plant to a connection with a new sewer main near U.S. 59 and I-35. Commissioners will vote on the proposed rate hike at the Jan. 4 meeting.
