BURLINGTON – Karen Smith has been appointed the new chief executive officer of Coffey Health System. Smith has been interim CEO since the departure of Dennis Feorge who resigned in Cctober after 20 years in the position. During her term as interim CEO, she started new patient care initiatives, service lines and employee relations programs. Hospital chief of staff John Shell said Smith has been proactive in marketing Coffey Health System and sincerely listens to staff, patients and families. Smith was Coffey Health Systems’s chief financial officer for three years. Before joining the group, she had 14 years of previous healthcare management experience.
