WINFIELD – Some residents of Cowley County in south-central kKnsas caused An Internet sensation last week when they videoed a concealed weird object being towed by a flat-bed truck trailer along a major highway. It was so big that highway signs had to be removed from along the highway. Associated Press reported it wasn’t long until Internet conspiracy theorists speculated that the 30-foot, saucer-shaped craft was a captured UFO. After the buzz, Cowley County Sheriff Don Read said the tarp did cover a flying object, but one of more earthly origins. He said the UFO was actually a oddly-shaped drone aircraft on its way to the naval air station at Patuxent River, Md. The maker of the drone, Northrop Grumman, confirmed the sighting and said the X-47B unmanned combat drone was designed to operate from aircraft carriers and is featured on the company’s Web site.
