An Ottawa resident was transported to the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Kansas City by air ambulance after colliding with a UPS truck. The accident was reported about 4:40 Friday afternoon. Shelly Swaim, 39 of rural Ottawa, was traveling west on the highway when she collided with the UPS truck which was traveling east and was stationary waiting to turn left onto Meadow Lake Drive. The driver of the UPS truck was Michael Pippin, 25, of Ottawa. According to Public Information Officer Jerrod Fredericks there was also a girl about 10 years old who was a riding in the passenger car who was not severely injured. The UPS driver refused treatment at the scene but was expected to be transported to Ransom Memorial Hospital by private vehicle to be checked out. The passenger car rolled and ended up in the northwest corner of the intersection of old US 50 Highway and Meadow Lake Drive.
