PAOLA — Miami County cable TV customers served by SuddenLink may not get to see the Kansas City Chiefs’ last football game Sunday because of a dispute between the cable company and the company that owns KCTV Channel 5 and KSMO Channel 62. Meredith Corporation seeks to receive a per-viewer fee on those cable customers watching the two Kansas City stations and stations in other states. However, because neither side can agree on the fee, under federal law, the cable system would have to drop the local programming Saturday night unless Meredith agrees to an extension or a contract. Under federal law, the cable company can’t replace the slots with broadcast TV signals from other cities, which would leave Miami County viewers without CBS. Both companies blame each other for the stand-off.
