COLONY — The Colony City Council must decide if a fellow council member can stay after a felony drug conviction. The Anderson County Review reported that Steve Wallace pleaded guilty to distributing marijuana as part of a plea agreement last month. He received 18 months of probation this month. In kansas, convicted felons lose the right to vote in Kansas during the term of their sentences. Many state and local elected offices require that anyone who runs for the offices be eligible to vote but the question is if that applies to the Colony City Council. Wallace was re-elected to the council this spring even though the drug charges had been already filed against him.
