OTTAWA — There’s lots of sun, but the Ottawa Winter Adventures keep on sledding. The holiday event has been packing them in, and the kids and their parents are having a blast, said Ottawa Recreation Commission’s Brandy Shoemaker. This morning at 10, the “Wii Just Dance” competition will be at the Don Woodward Community Center. The Easy-Bake Oven Cook-off will be at 1 and 3 at Elliott Hall at First Baptist Church for children age 5 and up. Because the cook-off is so popular and the competitions are limited to 11 people, children must register as early as possible, Shoemaker said. Basketball competitions for a variety of skills will be at ORC’s Goppert Building and begin at 1. Skating at The Rink, will be 6-9 tonight. The first session is limited to skaters age 10 and younger. Admission is $2 per skater. Winter Adventures end Friday. Ident-A-Kid sponsored by the Franklin County Sheriff’s office and the Ottawa Police Department will be 9-10 a.m. and 11-noon at the Ottawa Municipal Auditorium. Parents should bring their children’s personal information. A picture, fingerprints and DNA can collected. All information will be collected on a CD and given to the parents. No information will be kept by the departments. Also at Ottawa Municipal, Mr. Stinky Feet will perform a concert beginning at 10. This kid-rocker will celebrate the wondrous moments in a kid’s life with fun. Teachin’ Tots will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Don Woodward Community Center for children ages 2-5 and their parents. The interactive parent/toddler class is designed to provide skill development through a variety of activities, songs, and games. At 3, story-teller Audrey Lintner will do a special library Storytime at Room 104 at City Hall. A special art project is included. A martial arts demonstration will be at 6 at the Woodward Center at 6 for kids ages 5 and up. Participants will learn about leadership, respect, and responsibility as well as self-discipline, hard work, goal setting and self-defense skills.
