KANSAS CITY – The Grinter Place State HistoricSsite’s next “Second Saturday by the Grinter Stove” will be Jan. 14. The history and cooking series honors the Grinter Place heritage of cooking on the wood stove. Participants will learn traditional recipes through historic cooking demonstrations on a wood stove. Children can make a craft project, and visitors can hear a presentation on local history topics, including historic performers George and Diane Bernheimer who will present “Lincoln’s Fifth Wheel.” January’s menu is chicken vegetable or cheese soup, grape dumplings and prune cake. The $5 admission fee includes lunch, program, and tour of Grinter Place. For just the speaker and tour, admission is $3. Grinter Place is at the intersection of 78th Street and K-32 in Kansas City, Kan.
