GARNETT — The city of Garnett’s plans to construct a new building for the city’s parks and recreation department is back on track. The Anderson County Review reported that the low bidder for the job withdrew his bid. City manager Joyce Martin recommended that the city commission award the contract to the next low bidder, Matt Foltz. Foltz made a change in his original bid and cut $3000 from his earlier bid, making the new bid slightly more than $26,000, Martin said. The parks and rec crew is housed in a dirt-floor, bunker-like are under the Garnett stadium in Lake Garnett Park. The new building will be next to the new recreation center, which was converted from the National Guard armory..
