OTTAWA — Ottawa organizers of the Numana food for the world’s starving project are beginning their fund-raising campaign in earnest Thursday night with a special buffet at Sirloin Stockade. Self-described “Numaniac” Carolyn Elder said the Ottawa Numana project has a more ambitious goal this year from last year, raising $45,000 to pack 150,000 meals for Numana, as well as much canned food as possible for local food pantries. This year’s food-packing event, in which volunteers assemble a special package of rice and concentrated dry food for four people, will be April 14.
