OTTAWA — An Ottawa University graduate from Osawatomie has received a Fulbright grant to teach in Malaysia. David Neil Prihoda received a Fulbright U.S. Student Program Scholarship to teach English as a foreign language in Malaysia’s southernmost state of Johore. He graduated with a degree in English from OU last May. Prihoda left for the 10-month program on last week. He’ll spend two weeks in orientation in Malaysa’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, before going to his province for a one-week orientation and then his first teaching assignment. The orientations will consist of instruction about the Malaysian language, society and culture and English teaching methods for Malaysians. He is one of more than 1,600 Americans teaching abroad this academic year through the Fulbright program.
