RNETT — A young mother foiled what Garnett police believe what was a kidnapping late Monday night. Garnett Police Chief Kevin PeKarek said when the woman pulled into her garage in the 500 block of East 7th Street she took her 18-month-old son into the house. When she returned to get her baby from a child-safety seat in the back, she found a white man standing by the rear passenger side door, he said. The man fled when she confronted him, PeKarek said. The woman didn’t know the man, he said. The man had tried to unbuckle the baby from the seat, he said. There are no suspect. PeKarek issued a warning to parents in the area about keeping an eye on their children.
