OTTAWA- Monday’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day has spurred celebrations in Ottawa. Sunday afternoon’s events will mark 28 years of MLK Jr.’s  activities in Ottawa. The day’s event’s include music by three different choirs, the presentation of MLK Jr. essay winners, and Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt. President of the Ottawa Black Awareness Committee Richard Jackson is honored to have Schmidt speak.
“He’s an excellent speaker and I think the right person to deliver the message,” Jackson said.
Events get underway at 2:00 at the Ottawa University Chapel on Sunday afternoon.
