OTTAWA — Ottawa school officials met a small number of citizens Monday to discuss what Ottawa schools could be doing better. The forum was a spin-off of last year’s series of statewide meetings by the Kansas Association of School Boards on public education – one of which was held in Ottawa, Supt. Dean Katt said. Katt said he was disappointed by the relatively small number of citizens who attended this year, but they still provided some useful information. The forum was broken up into small groups to come up with comments, and although Katt said he’s still going over the comments compiled by the groups, he hasn’t found any major surprises. Although there are comments about what schools are going right, Katt said he’ll devote particular attention to those suggestions improvements.
