TOPEKA — Legislative support for Gov. Sam Brownback’s proposal to reduce state income taxes is evaporating quickly. The Kansas Information Network reports legislators have been taken aback by projections from Brownback’s own officials that although income taxes would be cut for the state’s wealthiest citizens under his proposal, income taxes would increase. And although Brownback has touted the proposal as “revenue neutral,” the revenue losses from the proposal have increased in each succeeding administration estimate. Legislators are coming up with their own rival income tax plans.
