OTTAWA — Franklin County District Judge Thomas Sachse will sit with the Kansas Supreme Court next Tuesday to hear oral arguments in four appeals before the court. The supreme court appointed Sachse to sit in place of Justice Nancy Moritz. Moritz recused herself from the cases because she was a member of the court of appeals that heard the cases earlier. Sachse will sit with the court to hear the arguments, join the justices in the deliberations and help write the opinions. The cases are two criminal cases, a treatment proceeding involving a sexually-violent offender case, and a domestic relations matter. Sachse has been Franklin County judge for 21 years.
