LEBO — State, Coffey County and local officials are trying to find the source of a strong gasoline odor in Lebo. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said its investigators and officials from Coffey County Fire District No. 1 and Coffey County Emergency Management started the search for the cause last week after Lebo’s city superintendent reported the smell. Investigators believe the smell is getting into buildings from an old sewer line, the KDHE’s Randy Carlson said. But they’ll still looking for the source of the odors. Carlson said he plans to cap off the line this week in hopes of ending the smell. The smell poses no risk for Lebo residents’ health, he said.
