OTTAWA — It’s a towering inferno of tower companies for Franklin County. County administrator Lisa Johnson told county commissioners Wednesday she’s been hearing from tower companies – sometimes weekly — that want to lease a small county-owned lot on Old Highway 50 southwest of Ottawa. But there’s a catch. A private company already leases the site for their own tower, she said. But one company has offered the county $15,000 a year for a 10-year option to lease the space in the event the other company leaves the site and removes its tower. The existing company, American Tower Company, still has about 19 years left on the lease.
