OTTAWA — Two men were booked into the Franklin County jail Wednesday in connection with a series of burglaries in Ottawa. Darrell Chandley, 21, Ottawa; and Joseph Mullins, 42, Topeka were jailed on suspicion of theft. Ottawa police officers went to a house in the 900 block of South Maple Wednesday to investigate a residential burglary, Lt. Adam Weingartner said. Several weapons, ammunition, electronics and sports equipment were taken. Later in the day, detectives were following up on an unrelated theft of a cell phone from a vehicle, he said. The detectives stopped a vehicle they believed was related to the cell phone theft and discovered many items reported stolen from the South Maple house, Weingartner said. The stolen cell phone was also recovered, he said. Detectives are continuing to follow up the cases.
