JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A Missouri legislator has filed a bill that would make I-70 a toll road. The Kansas City Star reported Sen. Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City, would have the state sign a contract with a private company to fix I-70 and allow the company to charge tolls. He said that’s only way Missouri can afford to improve I-70 to accommodate increasing traffic. The Missouri Department of Transportation said without additional funding to repair I-70, the highway would turn into a “graveled parking lot” in 15 years. Kehoe’s bill has attracted opposition from other lawmakers and from the trucking industry.
